The five members of Oregon Trail Library District, OTLD, Board of Directors are elected at large from around the OTLD District, located within Morrow County and serves the communities of Boardman, Heppner and Irrigon. When there are Board vacancies between elections, the Board may appoint someone to fill the vacant position until the next election.

We request that you be present at that meeting and be prepared to discuss your interest in serving on the Board in an open public meeting.

Any elector residing within the district shall be qualified to serve as a board member. ORS 357.226

Members represent the patrons of the district and provide leadership and oversight of the district through the District Library Director.

The Library Director handles the day-to-day operation of the district, employee matters, and manages the library branches. In addition to attending monthly meetings, board members are expected to have, or be willing to develop, a basic knowledge of financial reports and Oregon’s public meeting and public records laws.

The Board’s regular monthly meeting is held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., rotating locations between Boardman, Heppner, and Irrigon.

All meetings are available to attend virtually.

Occasionally the Board will hold special meetings to address urgent business that cannot be delayed until the next regular meeting.

Your Letter of Interest should include a statement that you reside within the boundaries of the Oregon Trail Library District and your contact information (please note that your Letter of Interest is a public document—do not include confidential information).

Board members establish the vision and strategic direction of the district in its mission of “We will provide access to information and services in a welcoming environment for all”.

The Board requests that your Letter of Interest include a statement of why you would like to serve on the OTLD Board of Directors.

Your Letter of Interest must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 25, 2024 for consideration at the meeting to be held on June 26, 2024.
